Sylvia Mae’s Soul Food

Southern Style

In Sylvia Mae’s own words: “In the small town of Jacksonville, there resides a little lady by the name Sylvia Mae Jones. She traveled from the town of Temple six-years ago to fulfill a dream. After seeking and praying, Ms. Jones finally realized what her passion and gift is … cooking! Good old fashioned soul food! Now after opening this lovely diner, Ms. Jones has become a very outstanding, well-known productive blessing to many in the City. Because of her loving manner and compassionate character, Ms. Jones has drawn many professional, popular, and amazing men and women from many towns, cities, states, and countries. Notable guests include Senator Robert Nichols, Rep. Travis Clardy, First Lady Deborah Bryant of Mississippi, the Texas Country Reporter, Chet Garner of The DaytripperTexas Highways Magazine, and many others. Ms. Jones is known for her tasty best chicken fried steaks, and carries the honor of Best Home Cook Restaurant. So now, all this good taste of Southern cooking – the smothered pork chops, purple hull peas, yams, friend cabbage and hot water, cornbread, and yum yum desserts – is being talked about across many miles. Those who make the drive to the small town of Jacksonville will not be disappointed. Dine with the lady whose cooking is done with love!”
